I recommend this book to anyone dealing with a fearful dog. Debbie talks with you as if she was your close friend and you have come to her for advice. Easy to read, easy to understand but chock full of scientific research broken down to layman terms, so we all can understand how to help our dogs. It is a must for any dog owner trying to understand how to help their fearful dog. Oh, you don't have a fearful dog? Think again, many times I hear my friends or colleges say "Oh my dog doesn't like" this or that. How much do you want to make a bet that your dog not liking the car, Uncle Jim, baths etc is actually fear? How much would you love to be able to have Fido hop into the car with the family and go on a afternoon adventure? Wouldn't it be great if Uncle Jim can come for a visit without worrying about the dog? How about looking forward to bathing Fido, knowing he won't act like you are cutting off an appendage? Learn the science behind your dogs behavior, you won't regret it. I've helped my dog improve tremendously with the information she provides, and he was fearful of EVERYTHING, because he missed the very important positive socialization every dog needs because he was kept in a small cage for the first year of his life. We need more people out there like Debbie.Don't forget to join her companion group on Facebook: Fearful Dogs. Debbie and the admins keep everything very respectful. You can discuss what you have read and have your questions answered.
